Where are things in the classroom?
- Classroom Library
- This is located at the back of the room in two tall bookshelves.
- Students can check out books from the classroom library at any time during the year.
- All they need to do is fill out the sign out sheet (name, book title, author, date checked out and date returned).
- Mailboxes
- These are located at the back of the room on the vent.
- Each student has their own numbered mailbox.
- Students are responsible for checking their mailbox to see if there are any papers that they need to take home.
- Friday Folders
- Friday folders are located in the back of the classroom next to the mailboxes.
- Each student is responsible for bringing home their Friday folder every Friday and returning it on Monday with a parent signature on their Conduct form.
- Lunch cards and lunch count
- The lunch cards are located on the chalkboard in a blue pocket folder. Students will pick up their lunch cards every day before lunch.
- The lunch count is located at the front of the room on a red clipboard. Students will check off what they want for lunch or whether they brought their lunch every morning before prayer/announcements.
- News Board
- The news board is located at the side of the room by the far door on a brown bulletin board.
- This board contains the specials calendar, lunch calendar, school prayer and any important information the students need to know.
- Backpack Hooks
- Students will hang up their backpacks on numbered hooks located on the side of the room.
- Students should keep their snacks and lunch boxes in their backpacks or on their hooks.
- Students should also hang their coats/jackets on their hooks.
- Students will hang up their backpacks on numbered hooks located on the side of the room.
- Planners
- Every student has their own planner. Students are responsible for taking their planner to every class with them and copying down their homework each day.
Policies
- Late work
- There will be no extra credit offered so students are responsible for turning in every assignment.
- Students will not receive a zero for an assignment. The teacher will wait until they turn the assignment in to grade it.
- Students will receive a check mark for every day the assignment is late.
- Absent
- If you are absent, another student will get the absent student's homework and it can be picked up at the end of the day.
- Check Marks
- Any fifth or sixth grade teacher can give the students a check mark.
- Check marks will be added up at the end of the week and will determine the student's conduct grade.
- Check marks can be given for late work, talking/being disruptive in class or church, being loud or disruptive in the hallways or being disrespectful to the teacher or other students.
- Locker Checks
- The teacher will complete random locker checks to make sure the student's lockers are clean and organized
- Students may decorate the inside of their lockers but not the outside.
- Lockers are located across from our classroom.
- Recess
- Students can bring their own balls/supplies for recess to play with but they are responsible for these items.
Expectations
- Materials
- Students should bring all materials to class every day and books should be covered.
- I expect students to come in every day with a positive attitude and to have respect for their classmates' opinions during group discussions.
- Homework
- Students should write their homework in their planners every night. During the first semester, we will write the homework on the homework board in the classroom.
